Charles Herbert Howe



Charles Herbert Howe was born on 20 Sep
1859 at Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts, United States of America. He
appeared on the census of 1860 in the household of Charles Henry Howe
and Susan Maxwell Howe (his parents) at Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts, United
States of America. He appeared on the census of 1870 in the household of
Daniel Howe and Hannah Lincoln Cook Howe(his grandparents, his father having remarried) at Ipswich, Essex,
Massachusetts, United States of America. He appeared on the census of 1880
at Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire, United States of America where he was attending Dartmouth College. He was
graduated in 1881 at Dartmouth College, Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire,
United States of America. He was principal of the High School
between 1881 and 1883 at West Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, United States
of America. He was in charge of the high school between 1883 and
1888 at Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America. He
married Mary Adelaide Fitz, daughter of Luther Fitz and
Elizabeth French Hazelton, on 26 Dec 1883 at Chester, Rockingham,
New Hampshire, United States of America. He was one of the trustees of
the Public Library, and President for three years of the Berkshire County
Teachers Association between 1889 and 1897 at Adams, Berkshire,
Massachusetts, United States of America. He resided between
1889 and 1897 at Adams, Berkshire, Massachusetts, United States of America.
He was principal of Wakefield High School until his death between
1898 and 1918 at Wakefield, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of
America. In Wakefield he was actively engaged in all that pertained to
education, he was several years Chairman of the Sweetser lecture course
committee, president of the Wakefield Teachers Association, president of
the Middlesex County Teachers Association, a member of the Massachusetts
Teachers Association, representing the Wakefield High School, the New
England Association of College and Preparatory Schools; a member of the
Golden Rule Lodge, F.A.M. of Wakefield, the Congregational Church, and was
a director of the Wakefield Cooperative Bank between 1898 and 1918 at
Wakefield, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America. He and Mary
Adelaide Howe appeared on the census of 1900 at West Chestnut,
Wakefield, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America. He and Mary
Adelaide Fitz appeared on the census of 1910 at Wakefield,
Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America. He died on 20 Dec 1918
at Wakefield, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America, at age
59. He was buried at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield,
Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America.
Charles Herbert Howe and Mary Adelaide Fitz had two children: Luther Maxwell Howe
(Allan's grandfather) and Alice Gardner Howe.
